There are different categories in General Skilled Migration which are as follows:
Skilled Independent Visa (sc189)
To be invited, you do not need a sponsor or a nominator. This visa is for invited skilled workers, eligible New Zealand citizens and eligible Hong Kong or British National (Overseas) passport holders with skills that Australia needs. With this visa, you can live and work permanently anywhere in Australia
Skilled Nominated Visa (sc190)
To be invited you need to be nominated by an Australian State or Territory Government. This is a permanent visa, and you need to live and work in the State or Territory that nominates you for a minimum of two years. (Although this is not a condition attached to your visa, it is a commitment asked from you by the State or Territory before they grant your nomination)
Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (sc491)
To be invited you need to be nominated by an Australian State or Territory Government, or an eligible relative sponsor to live and work in designated Regional Australia.This is a Provisional visa for five years and you could become eligible for a permanent residence visa (sc191) after 3 years.
